Goal

Palace is a shedding game. Get rid of your hand, then your face-up Palace cards, then your face-down Palace cards. First player completely out wins.

Setup

Each player has three face-down cards they cannot see, three face-up cards on top of those, and a hand. You normally play from your hand first.

Your Turn

Play a card equal to or higher than the top card on the pile.
If the pile is empty, you may play any card.
After playing from your hand, draw back up to 3 cards while the stock has cards.
If you cannot play, pick up the whole pile into your hand.

Common Special Cards

2 usually resets the pile and can be played on anything.
10 usually burns/clears the pile and lets you lead again.
Four-of-a-kind burns the pile in some house rules.

Endgame

Once your hand is gone, play your face-up Palace cards. Once those are gone, flip one face-down card blindly on your turn. If it plays legally, great. If not, you pick up the pile.

Modes

Classic Palace

Equal-or-higher play with pile pickup.

2s Reset / 10s Burn

Common house-rule mode using 2 as reset and 10 as pile clear.

Karma Style

Family-friendly Palace style with simple specials.

Chaos Palace

Arcade variant with more aggressive special-card behavior.

Examples

Top card is 7♣. You may play 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A, or 2 depending on mode.
