Durak means “fool.” The goal is to get rid of all your cards. The last player left holding cards is the Durak.
Durak is commonly played with a 36-card deck: 6 through Ace in each suit. Each player starts with 6 cards.
The attacker plays one card to the table. In throw-in variants, attackers may add cards matching ranks already on the table.
The defender must beat each attacking card with a higher card of the same suit, or with a trump card. Trump beats all non-trump suits.
One suit is trump for the round. Trump cards beat non-trump cards. Higher trump beats lower trump.
If the defender cannot or does not want to defend, they pick up the attacking cards and all unbeaten cards on the table.
